What's a class reunion without explosions?

What's a class reunion without some explosions?

Happy belated 4th of July blog readers!

Alex here! I hope everyone had a very patriotic and enjoyable holiday, I know I sure did. Between the cookouts, swimming, baseball games and fireworks, I can officially say I’m pretty exhausted and about 10 pounds heavier.  Besides the holiday, I had big plans this past week. It was my five-year high school class reunion. I know what you’re thinking, “whoop-dee-do it’s a five-year reunion,” but it was surprisingly fun. Granted I see most of my old classmates at one of our hometown festivals each year, but this year was even better because I was able to see people that I haven’t seen in well…five years. So here’s my advice to all of you recently graduated seniors: enjoy your time at Benedictine, but never forget where you came from and the friends that you made while in high school. It will make your class reunion, whichever one you choose to attend, all the sweeter. Ok, that’s all for my teary-eyed rant on high school.#nostalgia #high school #memories (wait, this isn’t Twitter…my bad).

Now that summer is in full-swing, I’m sure most of you might have heard about Benedictine University’s new social networking site “Be a Screamin’ Eagle.”  This site was designed to help admitted students answer questions about Benedictine. It’s also a great place to meet other incoming students, as well as to speak the Enrollment staff (in a non-formal, more-fun kind of way).

For those of you who have already joined the Screamin’ Eagle site for admitted students, you’ll notice that a poll is being conducted regarding the favorite summer movie so far. As of right now, the Hangover is leading the pack, followed very closely by Transformers 2.  Being an avid movie-goer, I have seen both films and I must say that I agree with the poll. The Hangover is probably the best comedy of the year (thus far, we’ve still got a ways to go). If you haven’t seen it, drop what you’re doing and watch this hilarious flick (obviously I’m speaking to the 17 and over crowd, and I, nor the university, condone anything that happens in the film. I’ve got to cover my bases here). As for Transformers 2, I was pretty pleased with the film. It wasn’t as great as the original, but few sequels are. With Transformers 2 you know what you’re getting into, big explosions and giant robots, don’t expect any Oscar-worthy performances by Megan Fox or Shia LeBouf (who by the way, spend half the time shouting “Bumblebee!”). Also, what better way to celebrate the 4th of July?  Explosions? Check. Loud music? Check. Giant robots? If it’s a great party then check.

By now you’ve probably noticed that I use (parenthesis) a lot. It’s my little way of throwing color-commentary into my blog, so get used to it, because it’s not going anywhere. Stay tuned for my next blog, SPOILER ALERT! It’s all about BU at a Glance. More details to follow!
